Privacy notice — business contact details (DRAFT)
Draft, 12 Sep 2026, renamed 21 Sep 2026. Not published. To live at build-a-web.co.uk/privacy. The ICO registration number and the contact mailbox are placeholders until the operator registers and chooses them; the controller is the operator personally until a company exists.
Who is writing to you

Operator decision, open since 21 Sep 2026. The business is co-owned by two people, so "Stephen Russell trading as" is no longer the controller. Which of the two it becomes — a partnership of two individuals, both named as controllers, or a limited company they both hold, with the company as the sole controller — is a decision for the owners and it changes what is registered with the ICO and what this paragraph should say. Both names are printed here in the meantime, because naming one owner when two hold the business would be the wrong answer under either option.
Why you received a message
You received one message because your business publishes a general contact address (for example info@…) on its own website or on OpenStreetMap, and because public sources show it either has no website or has one that does not work well on a phone. I build websites for local businesses and wrote to tell you that, once, with a draft of what a site for your business could look like.
I write only to limited companies and LLPs about their own business. If you are a sole trader and received an email from me, that is an error and I would like to know: reply "stop" and it will not happen again.
What I hold
Your business name, category, address, general email address and telephone number as published; whether your business has a website and, if so, what its home page looked like when I fetched it once; and, if you ask me to stop, a record of that so that I never write again.
I do not hold names of individuals, personal email addresses, or anything from your social media pages beyond their links.
Lawful basis
Legitimate interests (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)): a single, relevant, business-to-business approach to a published business contact, with an easy way to object. Unsolicited email is sent only to corporate subscribers under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, regulation 22.
Your rights
Reply "stop" or use the link in the message to object; that is honoured permanently. You may ask what I hold about your business, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk). I will answer any request within one month.
How long
Contact details for a business that has not replied are deleted twelve months after the last message. A "stop" is kept for as long as I trade, because it is the only way to make sure it is honoured.
